After being treated for a heart attack and heart failure, the parents of an eight-year-old boy and a six-year old girl decided to bypass their doctor and have their surgery on a chip implanted in their hearts, instead of a coronary artery.
“We knew we needed to do it, and it’s very simple, just cut off the valve and put in something else, so we’re doing this to help the kids,” their daughter said.
The couple said they were thrilled with the outcome, and they are still going through their post-surgery procedure to ensure their children will not experience a similar experience.
“The first few days were just a blur, but after a while we just had to accept it and get over it,” their son, Michael, said.
His mother, who goes by “Mackie,” said her family is “on a mission” to raise awareness about chip implants.
“It’s something that we are going to continue to do and hopefully help educate the public,” she said.
